To empower foreign workers in Canada, the Government has made a significant change that could transform their professional journeys. If you are a foreign worker in Canada, there are now more opportunities to attain Canadian education, improve your career prospects, and even transition to permanent residency.

As announced on June 27, 2023, by Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, a new temporary measure has been enacted that removes the limitation on the length of study programs that temporary foreign workers can enroll in without requiring a study permit.

This change means that you can now pursue additional training and education that could significantly boost your career. Furthermore, the change facilitates a smoother transition to permanent residency.

Before this adjustment, foreign workers could only study in programs lasting six months or less. A separate study permit was necessary for longer courses—a challenge for those seeking to broaden their education and enhance their training.

Now, this 3-year temporary measure allows you to study full-time or part-time while your work permit is valid, with no restrictions on the length of the program.

This is an exciting development for those of you who hold a valid work permit or have submitted an application to renew before June 7, 2023. However, if you wish to study longer than the duration of your work permit, a separate study permit is still required.

Let’s seize this opportunity to pursue further education and improve income prospects. We encourage you to explore our programs that fit your career aspirations. Our team is ready to guide you and answer any questions you may have regarding this new measure.
