We are very excited to inform you that as of this June, Evergreen College is celebrating our 17th year in business and we are growing strong with 8 campuses all around Ontario thanks to your continuous supports. This is also one of the reasons why Canada have been in the Top 3 destinations for overseas study for so many years. The government provides support to both domestic and international students who are affected by COVID-19. If you are eligible and haven’t taken advantage of these supports, it’s time to take action now knowing that you can study with us in peace. If you are an international students who are about to come to Canada, rest assured that you will be supported not only by Evergreen College but also by our government with their open immigration policy and financial support.

 

In today’s newsletter, let us give you an overview about the currently running programs for domestic students (CESB) and international students (CERB):

    1. CESB Benefits:

The Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) provides financial support to post-secondary students, and recent post-secondary and high school graduates who are unable to find work due to COVID-19. From May to August 2020, the CESB provides a payment to eligible students of:

  • $1,250 for each 4-week period
  • $2,000 for each 4-week period if you have dependants or a disability

  1. CERB Benefits:

The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) gives financial support to employed and self-employed Canadians who are directly affected by COVID-19. This includes international students who are directly affected by the pandemic as well. If you are eligible, you can receive $2,000 for a 4-week period (the same as $500 a week). The Benefit is available to workers:

  • Residing in Canada, who are at least 15 years old;
  • Who have stopped working because of reasons related to COVID-19 orare eligible for Employment Insurance regular or sickness benefits or have exhausted their Employment Insurance regular benefits or Employment Insurance fishing benefits between December 29, 2019 and October 3, 2020;

  • Who had employment and/or self-employment income of at least $5,000 in 2019 or in the 12 months prior to the date of their application; and,
  • Who have not quit their job voluntarily.
