“AstraZeneca is making a major investment to expand the Research and Development Hub in Mississauga,” said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in a recent press conference. “This expansion will create 500 more good middle-class jobs in the GTA.”

AstraZeneca is strengthening Ontario’s position as a leader in clinical studies for cancer, COVID-19, and chronic kidney disease. They are also creating a new hub for rare disease development and research. AstraZeneca’s decision shows they trust Ontario’s scientific community, which has 50% of the top research hospitals in the country.

“While our province and the world continue to face economic uncertainty,” said Premier Doug Ford. “We’re working hard to attract good-paying jobs and game-changing investments from companies in a wide range of sectors including the automotive, manufacturing and life science industries.”
